¡Hola!

Welcome! I’m Karina, Founder and Director of Spanish Immersion Workshop. A native Spanish speaker born, raised and educated in Buenos Aires, Argentina, I studied early childhood language education and earned my degree from a prominent teacher’s college.

While living in Buenos Aires, I developed and implemented early childhood foreign language programs at various local public and private schools.

Since 2002, here in the US, I have been designing early childhood development programs to teach Spanish to children using the immersion method, which facilitates effortless, natural language acquisition. From 2003 to 2005, I developed and implemented the early childhood Spanish program at Buckley Country Day School in Roslyn, Long Island.

Inspired by the impact of early childhood language learned through immersion, I founded SiW in 2005.

I believe strongly that all children should have consistent, methodical exposure to a second language before they turn eight, giving them the neural development that only takes place at this early age and the foundation for becoming multi-lingual. I started SIW to bring that opportunity to the children of Long Island.

We are a member of the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), National Network for Early Language Learning (NNELL), Foreign Language Educators of New Jersey (FLENJ), American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese (AATSP). As a member of the Northeast Conference on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (NECTFL) I have presented  teaching techniques at the NECTFL National Conference.

I’m looking forward to meeting your family and introducing you to our Spanish immersion programs. We are here to be your support system in giving your children the gift of learning a second language!

Karina Giménez
Founder and Director

“Ms. Giménez’s greatest asset is her knowledge of current research in second language learning pedagogy. She strives to put theory into practice in everything that she does in her classroom and the results show in her students’ linguistic progress as well as their obvious enjoyment of the class.  Her passion for her subject is infectious.
Ms. Giménez brings what seems like endless energy to her program and to our school. She handles every situation, be it with students, parents, or colleagues, with tact, professionalism, and a healthy sense of humor.
Our Spanish program has been received with praise by all, and this is in large part due to Ms. Giménez’s exceptional teaching skills. I have no doubt as to the future success of our program which she will continue to teach as it expands this fall.”
